Looking for a scare?  Teens may enjoy a visit to the Great VT Corn Maze Dead North, Farmland of Terror.  Tickets go on sale in mid-July.  They have sold out for the last 12 years.  It is about a 1h40m drive from Hanover.

CHRISTMAS TREE FARMS
Nichols Tree Farm Lyme, NH

Kankamangus Highway
If you are up for a longer adventure, purchase a tag to cut your own Christmas tree at the Saco Ranger Station and then drive the Kankamangus Highway picking out your perfect tree. Tags are $5 each.  Special roads are plowed to provide access to trees deeper in the forest.

Run by the Weavers, third generation Christmas tree farmers.  Wide assortment of trees to wander through.  Cut your own.

CHRISTMAS EVENTS
Downtown Hanover Christmas Tree Lighting and Celebration  Typically the first Friday in December.  Come meet Santa, take a horse-drawn wagon ride, listen to live performances by local artists and shop at the shops that are open late.

Boston Pops Holiday Concert Boston, MA
Wonderful experience with kids or without.  Their rendition of 12 Days of Christmas is not to be missed.  Santa makes a visit during the kids matinees.

Polar Express N. Conway, NH
This extremely popular program requires entering into a lottery for tickets.  It is very realistic for smaller children and quite an experience for any Polar Express book lover.

Mitchell's Magic Christmas Claremont, NH
50,000 lights, synchronized to music, decorate this house from Thanksgiving weekend through New Year's Eve. 4:30-9:30pm daily.

LaSalette Shrine Enfield, NH
50,000 lights, beginning the Friday & Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend, continuing the following Friday through New Year's Eve.  5-9pm.  Display is almost entirely focused on the birth of Jesus.

Pick up some items from Allechante or Umpleby's to go on a picnic or make dinner easier.  Or go out for an upscale brunch or dinner at Pine in the Hanover Inn, Home Hill InnSimon Pearce or The Woodstock Inn.  If you plan to stay in Hanover and it's a nice day, stroll through the Dartmouth Pow Wow on the Green after brunch.
